INSTRUMENTS AND MATERIALS:

My main medium is street road signs which I used instead canvases. I use also other elements of road traffic (for example traffic lights and traffic cones) for my installations and artworks. I also draw on classical canvases.

I have no white sheet fear with road signs. Its take me such limits as standard colors and symbols. And such limits give me whole area for fantasy. I can transform show them like excellent metaphors. Real street signs carry on them own scars, notes of the street: dents and scratches.


I use figurative representation for my artworks. My visual language consists of bright letters and characters. It connected with mypassion for graffiti, street art and commercial illustration.

I work with graffiti cans and acrylic markers during making my artworks, sometimes I add also collage elements (shoe-laces, stickers, wire, coins).

I also use knife-cut film stencils to create bright areas with precise edges.

CONCEPT:

I call myself POSITIVE ARTIST. I use bright colors and cartoon characters to discuss such serious topics as internal crisis, acquaintance with Shadow (according to Karl Yung) and returning of joy and flavor of life.

Overcoming of internal psychological disbalance topic is so close for me because last several years I’m passing through midlife crisis. Creating of such artworks is the therapy for me firstly, way of emotions feeling.

And I noticed that these themes are worried a lot of my spectators. Millions of people all over the world are faced with the similar problems. Person loses old orienteers and doesn’t know where to go in new rules of the game.

From this point of view the road signs are transform into internal compasses, give supports. One of the characters from Road Signs serie is blackman who becomes the person in my artwork and lives his own life stories. Now he is not part of faceless crowd but character with his own emotions, problems and achievements.

My power is to show the world from other point of view! My power in strong contours of objects and characters! My power in bright colors and fonts! My power in emotions! My power in humour and optimism!  And my power is to be not ideal, but real!
